Sun Valley Tempe - Children's Theming
Custom Children's Theming we did for Sun Valley Community Church in Tempe, Arizona.
Nearly all of the common areas and hallways have full color custom printed wallpaper. The main lobby has wallpaper floor to ceiling with 22ft high panels. Each panel is about 54" wide and is a applied with with traditional wallpaper paste and primer. The wallpaper is applied with a overlap and then "double-cut" to make a near perfect seam.
The lobby features a 3D Tree that has a foam core and is hardcoated with automotive bed-liner (polyurea). Then hand-painted to mimic the look of bark. This is the largest tree we have ever done in any of our theming projects. And the largest theming prop we have ever made. At the core of the tree is a steel structure structure that is bolted to the block wall. The canopy "leaves" are printed and contour cut on 1/2" gatorboard and is suspended by a network of square steel tubing.
Stand-off characters are made using 1/2" thick sintra (expanded PVC sheet) and are fastened to the wall using a french cleat. In many cases characters are precisely positioned to line up with printed wall paper. We use paper templates that have a ghosted image of the background and a line drawing of the character to show installers exactly how to position the character on the wall. It also shows exactly where to drill holes for the mounting bracket/cleat. Paper templates make it fool proof to where anyone can install stand-offs.
Additionally, nearly every door in the building was wrapped with adhesive vinyl with a printed wood texture.
